Benjamin "BJ" Moyars - LinkedIn

When not at work serving with the Battle Ground Police Department in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, Benjamin “BJ” Moyars’ time is spent as the co-owner (along with Sooyeon Shin) of Moyars Consulting LLC, a firm that specializes in law enforcement training, providing certified training to police officers nationwide on topics such as cultural diversity, mental illness, domestic violence, and of course, human trafficking. BJ is Crisis Intervention Team Certified, serves as a committee member of IPATH’s Labor Trafficking Committee and recently became Co-Chair of the Law Enforcement Committee, along with Det. Sgt. Jon Daggy of the IMPD’s Vice and Human Trafficking Investigations Unit. Taking 4 years off of college to live in China before completing a Bachelor’s in Asian Studies at Purdue University (which he jokingly refers to as the best 9 years of his life to those unaware of his travels), BJ was forced to become fluent in Mandarin through years of literal trial by fire in the bowels of a traditional Chinese culinary school in Beijing. BJ is also frequently hired as a public speaker, delivering bi-lingual keynotes around the country on topics related to China and foreign language learning, and in the past has been hired as an expert witness on Chinese culture in a federal court case. Outside of law enforcement and consulting, BJ is also very active in the nonprofit world, serving as the board president of the International Center of West Lafayette, and in 2017 was a recipient of the Top 10 Under 40 award in Greater Lafayette.
